Quick answer: On covered Alpha Capital Qualified Analyst accounts, profitable tickets do not offset losing tickets for the per-asset Max Risk Rule. Reopening the same asset in the same direction within ten minutes can also carry the earlier loss into the test. A comfortable account-wide net result can therefore conceal a breach. Official Max Risk policy.

Coupon summary: Verified code COMPARE50 gives 50% off a first purchase; COMPARE gives 30% off later purchases. Choose one applicable code. The rates are separate and never stacked. See the Alpha Capital offer.

Official information checked: 6 October 2026. This guide covers Alpha Capital CFD accounts, with Alpha Pro illustrations.

Establish whether the per-asset rule applies

The current Max Risk policy applies to qualified accounts purchased after 21 July 2026. Its standard thresholds are 3% for $5K, $10K and $25K accounts, and 2% for $50K, $100K and $200K. Alpha Direct has a separate 1% limit and is outside this article’s examples. Reaching the relevant threshold triggers closure, including other open positions.

For the Alpha Pro examples used here:

Initial account sizePer-asset percentageDollar threshold
$25,0003%$750
$50,0002%$1,000
$100,0002%$2,000

Treat these as boundaries, never target losses. Record the purchase date, current stage and any account-specific restrictions before using the worksheet. An older account or an evaluation is a different scope from a new qualified account.

Why an account-wide net number can mislead

The policy combines losing positions in each asset while excluding profitable positions from the offset. Each instrument is tested separately. Consider this invented $100K qualified-account snapshot, before any additional costs:

PositionFloating resultLoss included in that asset’s subtotal
XAUUSD ticket A-$1,150$1,150
XAUUSD ticket B-$650$650
XAUUSD ticket C+$900$0
EURUSD ticket D+$800$0

The account’s net floating result is -$100. The XAUUSD losing-position subtotal is $1,800, leaving only $200 before the illustrated $2,000 threshold. Using the net -$100 figure would materially understate this particular risk measure.

If ticket B loses another $200 while everything else stays unchanged, the XAUUSD subtotal reaches $2,000. Gains elsewhere do not expand that asset’s threshold. This arithmetic is deliberately simplified to expose the aggregation; actual platform marks, costs and enforcement determine the account record.

A useful ledger needs an asset column

A spreadsheet organized only by ticket can make three small positions look independent. Add the exact symbol, direction, current losing amount and time of the last close. Group the losing amounts by asset before comparing them with the applicable ceiling.

Record wins separately so the accounting remains reconcilable without using them as offsets in the wrong test. Keep an account-wide equity view alongside the asset ledger because the daily and total-loss requirements remain independent.

The ten-minute re-entry check

Under the same official rule, a same-direction re-entry within ten minutes combines the closed loss and the new loss. Closing a ticket therefore does not necessarily start a fresh loss allowance.

Here is an original $50K illustration:

Server timeEventLoss relevant to the illustrated sequence
10:02Close a losing EURUSD long$620
10:08Open another EURUSD longEarlier $620 remains relevant
10:12New long has $300 floating loss$920 combined
LaterNew long’s floating loss reaches $380$1,000 combined

The last line reaches the $1,000 example threshold. The $300 and $380 are successive marks on one new position, so they must not be added together. This is a common worksheet error: snapshots describe the current state, while closed losses describe completed events.

Maintain one record for each event and distinguish it from repeated observations of the same open trade. Do not use a timer as an invitation to increase risk. A re-entry still needs to satisfy the account’s other rules and the trader’s own loss budget.

Keep three risk checks separate

The Alpha Pro 8% specification also has a 4% daily limit and an 8% static overall limit. Those percentages answer different questions from this per-asset test.

At the initial $50K reference balance, 4% is $2,000 and 8% is $4,000. Neither amount replaces the $1,000 asset threshold in the example. The qualified lot-limit guide covers quantity exposure, which needs a separate check again.

A practical review order is: confirm the account scope, reconcile per-asset losses and recent closes, inspect account-wide loss room, then check open quantity and available margin. Passing one check cannot establish overall compliance.

Purchase prices with the correct Alpha Capital code

The official product catalog, checked on 6 October, lists these published Alpha Pro 8% on-demand base fees. The standard configuration is used throughout.

Plan and packageSizeRegular USD feeCodePurchase scopeSavingsCalculated base fee
Alpha Pro 8%, on-demand$50K$297.00COMPARE50First purchase, 50%$148.50$148.50
Alpha Pro 8%, on-demand$50K$297.00COMPARELater purchase, 30%$89.10$207.90
Alpha Pro 8%, on-demand$100K$527.00COMPARE50First purchase, 50%$263.50$263.50
Alpha Pro 8%, on-demand$100K$527.00COMPARELater purchase, 30%$158.10$368.90

First-purchase arithmetic uses regular fee × 0.50; later-purchase arithmetic uses × 0.70. Optional upgrades, taxes and payment or conversion costs are separate. The discount changes the purchase cost, without increasing a trading threshold.

Apply the code and preserve the account details

  2. Apply COMPARE50 for the first purchase or COMPARE for a later one.
  3. Reconcile the base-fee discount and any extras before payment.
  4. Preserve the selected terms and purchase date with the account record.
