Breakout trading cost overview
Sources: trading-fee FAQ and official symbols table. Evaluation trading fees affect simulated account performance; they are not separate card charges.
Calculate opening and closing commissions
Commission per side = position notional × 0.0004.
These are calculated examples. A position's exit notional can differ from its entry notional, so real round-trip commission may differ from the simplified total.
Why turnover matters
Ten round trips with $25,000 of notional each would create approximately $200 of commission if the entry and exit values were unchanged. Twenty such round trips would create approximately $400.
For short holding periods and small price targets, costs can consume a substantial share of the gross result. Evaluate a strategy after commissions rather than comparing gross winning trades with gross losing trades alone.
Overnight financing on Breakout Terminal
The detailed program rules distinguish between platforms. Breakout Terminal deducts financing every four hours, while legacy DXtrade uses a daily snapshot and deduction schedule. The daily published rate is 0.033%.
The standalone evaluation-fee FAQ describes the legacy daily schedule without that platform distinction. For current Terminal accounts, use the platform-specific explanation in the program rules and your account cash movements.
These estimates divide the daily rate into six equal intervals and assume unchanged notional. Actual deductions depend on the intervals held, valuation and rounding.
A $25,000 position held across a full day, then closed at the same notional, would incur approximately $20 commission plus $8.25 financing: $28.25 before spread and slippage. This is a useful way to compare different holding periods using one consistent position size.
Current leverage and maximum position sizes
Snapshot from the official symbols table checked September 25, 2026. These are instrument caps, not guaranteed position sizes for every account. Available margin and existing exposure can impose lower practical limits.
The August leverage update confirms that greater leverage did not increase drawdown allowances.
Leverage does not determine the loss budget
A $10,000 position moving against the trader by 1% produces approximately $100 of price loss, before costs. A $50,000 position experiencing the same move produces approximately $500.
These simplified linear calculations show why available leverage should not be treated as a position-size recommendation. Margin capacity and distance to breach answer different questions.
Which platform does Breakout use?
According to the DXtrade retirement notice, new DXtrade evaluations stopped being sold after July 9, 2026. New purchases use Breakout Terminal; existing DXtrade accounts remain supported.
Before trading, check the exact symbol, platform, spread, financing schedule and position limit. A symbol visible in an external charting application may not have the same price feed or execution conditions as your account.
A simple cost worksheet
For each planned trade, record opening notional, expected holding time and the likely closing notional. Estimate two commissions and financing, then allow for variable execution costs.
After closing, compare that estimate with recorded cash movements. This builds a more useful picture of trading costs than relying on a single headline commission rate.

For example, a $100 fee becomes $95, saving $5. This is an arithmetic example, not a quoted account price. The code reduces the purchase cost; it does not increase the account's loss allowance or change trading rules. Check the final amount and any add-on separately at Breakout checkout.
